My Journey

My Journey

Like a dog with a bone ...

A career in the finance sector is not something that I ever envisaged.  Outdoor Recreation, Sports Management and Event Coordination was the path I was following … until I met my husband that is.

Not long after meeting my husband Nathan, he introduced me to dirt bikes by doubling me on the back of his 400cc four stroke for an adventure through the bush.  It was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have had to date, and I knew I just had to get one for myself!

It was in that moment in which my passion for dirt bikes was born, inspiring a career change to the Motorbike industry in 2001.  Racing Motocross and enduro against the blokes became my new lifestyle, because back then a Female Class wasn’t really a thing.  My background in Sport and Event Management came into play and I initiated the Inaugural Women’s Series, which I am proud to say is still running today as the Go Girls series.

Along with a passion for racing, the Motorbike Industry also sprouted a passion for Finance, and from there I went on to become a Mortgage Broker with RAMS Home Loans.  Since then, I have moved from finance to farming … purchasing a bush block on the Southern Downs where we plunged into the cattle industry to mitigate our bushfire risk.

"Service to others leads to greatness."

– Jim Rohn

With every purchase we make, or service we engage in, our choice can make a big difference to each others’ success.  Australians are fantastic when it comes to supporting local, community, and the underdog where they can.  It is my desire to take this one step further with my business and you can find out by clicking the link below.

Although we were new to the cattle industry, my character is not to shy away from challenges when faced with adversity or being the underdog.  Even when challenged with the trials and tribulations of drought, flooding rains, the imminent risk of bushfire and accompanying smoke, I push through with pure grit and determination.

So in 2017 when I decided to return to the Finance Industry, it was with the goal to achieve the flexibility needed to maintain our stud Brangus herd through drought by becoming self-employed with another finance business.  Guided by my strong passion to help others succeed in their goals, and loving the work, I knew my purpose was to align my two passions – my cattle and finance … and so it came to be that Farmer does Finance was born.

Drawing on my experience a as farmer, as well as the many and diverse roles I have filled through my career across the Hospitality and Retail sectors, to Earthworks, Horticulture, Transport and Warehousing, from labouring to managerial roles, I understand you. I help people from all walks of life, from big business to small business owners, from young adults to families to farmers, first home buyers or investors, sole-traders and tradies … I help everyone realise their dreams.

I call upon the same grit and determination that is my character to go in to bat for you as your Finance Broker.  The service I provide is also one of a down to earth, educational, and transparent experience.  Click here to read more about how I became the Farmer that does Finance.
